Scarlet Anderson and Stella Rosenberg were born hours apart on the same day, in the same hospital, in Northern New Jersey, in the early 1980s. This was no mere coincidence, but fate—they believe. Inseparable since childhood, the girls share a passion for scientific pursuit, a devotion to Albert Einstein and an all-consuming love for Burt Reynolds. In the summer of the 15th year, Scarlet and Stella enter a prestigious state science fair, determined to win first prize. But when Raj, a handsome and mysterious newcomer is assigned to their science group, their carefully constructed world is undeniably altered. As the two girls teeter on the brink of adulthood, their involvement with the opposite sex threatens to destroy their sacred friendship, not to mention their science experiment.
