Vera Santiago, a brash L.A. hydrologist, travels deep into California's San Joaquin Valley to get to the root of California's smothering drought crisis. There, however, Vera's introduced to the power play between the local farmers and politicians, which may be bleeding the desert dry. Her revelations of the drought's political underpinnings ultimately lead to unforeseen bloodshed.
