Capturing the Stars Kate Mickere

Despite being four months pregnant, Mina flees her abusive husband and accepts a position as a maid in the home of a prominent and ebullient astronomer. When her employer famously declares that his maid can do better work than male employees, Mina rises to the challenge and becomes the first female "computer" at the Harvard College Observatory. Based on the true story of Williamina Fleming, The Diamond in the Sky shows that a poor immigrant can become a pioneer in the male dominated world of the 19th century if she aims for the stars.
