Hailey's Comet John Kazlauskas

Lucy Hailey, a fiercely independent retiree, moves into a nursing home late in life. Lucy was a Boeing engineer in the 1950s and upon seeing that some designers are being recognized—and that she is not among them—she tries to find a way to demand her own recognition. She ultimately decides to secretly build an ultralight airplane, using materials she can steal from her nursing home. As she and her friends build the plane, they begin to feel alive again: giving Lucy the chance to fly herself back into a history she'd been written out of.
