Shawn Lawrence Otto
Shawn Lawrence Otto has worked as a successful screenwriter and movie producer since 1998. His films include House of Sand and Fog (2004) starring Jennifer Connelly and Ben Kingsley and the upcoming Dreams of a Dying Heart from Focus Features starring Kristen Harris. In addition to winning the 2005 Tribeca/Sloan grant for Hubble, Otto’s numerous awards include the Pen Center USA Literary Awards finalist in screenwriting (2004), the Minnesota Indepdent Film Fund development grant winner (2000), and the Barry (Rainman) Morrow screenwriting Fellowship winner (1999). In addition to filmmaking he is presently Owner of Onyx Properties Inc., a real estate investment and management firm. Otto lives with his wife, Rebecca, and their son Jacob in a renewable energy house he designed and built with his own hands on a 30-acre horse farm near Marine on St Croix, Minnesota.
