Colin Rosemont
Colin Rosemont is a writer and director based in Los Angeles. He holds a BA in cultural anthropology from Reed College, an MA in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon, and is currently completing his MFA in Film Directing from the American Film Institute. His documentary short films UNEARTHED and A PEOPLE’S HISTORY OF CEMENT have screened at film festivals nationwide including Santa Barbara International, Mammoth Lakes International, San Diego International, Durango Independent, SF Docfest, and Red Nation Film Festivals. His work with the Tejon Indian Tribe began with UNEARTHED, exploring the history, spirituality, and tensions surrounding an archeological excavation on native lands in Kern County, CA. This film is distributed by Documentary Educational Resources. Years of collaboration with members of the Tejon Indian Tribe have led him towards his first feature documentary film, NIHUNAVEA: MY HEART, MY CENTER, currently in production. To date, his work has received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, California Humanities, Vision Maker Media, and the Sloan Foundation. His production company, Mimetic Films, is committed to stories at the intersection of ecology, history, and mythology.
