Kamila Daurenova is a New York based Director, Writer and Editor. A graduate of NYU's Tisch Undergraduate Film and Television Program, she has since been working full-time as an Assistant Editor at MTV. Born and raised in Kazakhstan, she is passionate about telling stories from the people and places that have been made invisible in the global narrative. Her work often focuses on young women overcoming adversity, including her short film "Loop" which played at Sarasota Film Festival and Carmarthen Bay Festival, and her upcoming short "Madeline the Child Exorcist", filmed in Queens with an all-child ensemble cast. She is currently developing her first feature film around the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Testing Site and is excited to begin pre-production on The Village of Heptyl thanks to the generosity of the Sloan Foundation.
