Deepak Rauniyar

Deepak Rauniyar is a director and producer. A former critic, he became the first Nepali director to compete at a major international film festival when his first feature HIGHWAY premiered at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival. His second, WHITE SUN, premiered at 2016 Venice Film Festival to rave reviews and has screened throughout the world (Toronto, Busan, Locarno, Rotterdam), winning awards at the Venice, Singapore, Friborg and Palm Springs film festivals. The film was Nepal’s official selection for 90th Academy Award Best Foreign Language Film, and The New York Times recently described Rauniyar as one of “The 9 New Directors You Need to Watch.”
