Jessica Gonzalez
Jessica Gonzalez was born in Miami, Florida to a very large (and, yes, loud) Cuban-American family. A lot of people tell young writers, “write what you know.” But that’s never really worked for her. In another life, she thinks she would have been an astronaut or a physicist. In this life however, she isn’t all that great at math, so writing is the best way she knows how to learn about all the things that she couldn’t learn from textbooks in school. For this reason, she spends most of her time writing about what she doesn’t know—she learns about the things that fascinate her by telling the stories of the women who learned them first. As most of her audience are not physicists, explorers, or time travelers either, what really inspires Jessica is the opportunity to share what she learns and creates with the world and the people around her, hopefully bringing them all a little closer together in the process.
