Casey Cooper Johnson
Prior to completing his MFA at the American Film Institute, Casey spent the past ten years in Kosovo as a TV producer, documentary filmmaker, and political satirist. Having graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Environmental Studies, he first explored video-making during his volunteer work in post-war Kosovo. Since then, he has produced and directed dozens of documentaries in the Balkan region, collaborating with his wife, Antoneta, and his sister-in-law/cinematographer, Sevdije Kastrati, under their film company, Crossing Bridges Productions. His recent documentaries have won prizes at festivals ZagrebDox, Croatia and Dokufest, Kosovo. Casey is best known for his work as co-producer of the acclaimed current affairs show, Life in Kosovo, and his self-directed satirical TV sketches, “Kosova’s Son in Law.”
Casey Cooper Johnson was awarded a Production grant at AFI in 2010, and the Sloan Development Fund at the Tribeca Film Institute in 2012 for Unmanned.
