Kate Buhrmaster
Kate Buhrmaster is a recent graduate of the M.F.A. film program at Columbia University, where her work as a director and screenwriter won multiple awards and fellowships, including Faculty Selects Screenwriter, Best Teleplay, and the John and Jane Smith Fellowship. Her thesis short film, Longshots, has screened at film festivals on several continents and was a finalist for the Angelus Student Film Awards. Before returning to school she worked as a writer and producer of hard news and short-form documentaries for MSNBC and NBC News. Among other events, she covered the 2000 Presidential Election Contest from the steps of the Florida Supreme Court. She is an honors graduate of Dartmouth College, where she majored in English Literature and Creative Writing and also won a prestigious Senior Fellowship to complete her first novel.
