Space: 2126 Elizabeth G. Schroder

Set in the year 2126, Space: 2126 is the story of a mission to Mars and the first stepping stones in the process of transforming a planet. A mining settlement has been established on Mars chiefly to extract deuterium. Scientists have also established a research facility, but for the most part live separated from the miners. Three astronauts are selected to assist in the melting of the polar cap, which will set off environmental changes to the planet which will eventually lead to making the planet more hospitable to life. This conflicts with the plans of the mining company. It wants to keep the planet solely as a commercial operation with no environmental concerns and its miners, employees with no citizenship rights. An astronaut, a scientist and the foreman of the mine, team up to save the day.
