Whitney Rowland

Whitney Rowland is a playwright and screenwriter. Her plays have been produced at Off the Wall Productions (Carnegie, PA), The Rochester Repertory Theatre (Rochester, MN), The Northfield Arts Guild (Northfield, MN), The Barn Players' Theatre (Mission, KS), and at universities and colleges across the country. Her work has been developed at a number of conferences, including the Last Frontier Theatre Conference, the Mid-America Theatre Conference, the Great Plains Theatre Conference, and at both the regional and national Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festivals. Through KCACTF, she was a six-time Regional Ten Minute Play finalist, a two-time Regional One Act Play finalist, and won twice in each category. Her play Wayfinding was a 2017 finalist for the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. Rowland's feature-length screenplays The BuzzBots and The Way Up were finalists for the 2017 and 2016 CMU/Sloan Screenwriting Contest, respectively. Whitney holds a bachelors degree in English from the University of Kansas and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied under Rob Handel.
