Karen Sztajnberg
Karen Sztajnberg is a Brazilian filmmaker who came to the United States in 1994 on a UN Scholarship to pursue her B.A. in film at Bard College. In 1996 she was awarded a grant from the National Film Board of Canada where she completed a short film. After graduating Sztajnberg worked as an editor in documentaries, TV series, and collaborated with artists of other disciplines to produce engaging multimedia pieces. She has also participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus. Currently, she is completing her M.F.A. degree at Columbia University and developing a documentary project under a Petrobras Cultural Foundation commission. Her personal work has been screened at Centre George Pompidou in Paris, Rio de Janeiro Museum of Modern Art, and has been broadcast on PBS. Sztajnberg is currently a participant at Sundance's selective screenwriter's lab, and has recently completed editing the feature The Novel of a Generation by Brazilian filmmaker David Franca Mendes.
