Melanie R.W. Oram has won several awards including the 2004 Black Filmmaker Showcase finalist, exhibited by Showtime; awarded Best Film of the Festival and Best Student Film at the 2004 Juneteenth Film Festival. Her film Shook was a finalist at Urbanworld 2005. She produced award winning short films including: A-Alike and Lifted. As an associate producer at HBO she earned an Emmy for The Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel Show and a Peabody for Dare to Compete: The Struggle of Women in Sports. Oram has earned a Bachelor’s degree (Cum Laude) at Harvard University and a MFA degree at Columbia University’s Film Division.
